Guatemalan sentenced on immigration charges

A citizen of Guatemala was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh to more than two years in prison for violating federal immigration laws.

Mateo Xocholij-Carrillo, 25, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison followed by three years' supervised release by Chief U.S. District Judge Donetta W. Ambrose.

Xocholij-Carrillo was arrested and deported from the United States in August 2004, prosecutors said. He was found in Western Pennsylvania on New Year's Eve without having applied for admission into the United States, prosecutors said
