In anticipation of a busy Labor Day weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents were fanning out in teams to specific South Florida marinas to process small vessel arrivals, including in-person immigration processing.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security reminded in an announcement that each boat's master's is obliged to make sure any person seeking entry to the United States reports to the U.S. Customs and Border Protections division on arrival.

``This means any vessel not engaged in trade, such as pleasure boats and yachts, regardless of size,'' a notice said. ``This requirement applies to all boats regardless of country of registration.''

While a vessel's representative goes ashore to notify CBP, it added, ``no other person may leave or board the boat and no baggage or merchandise may be removed or loaded until the report of arrival is made and release granted by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer.''

Designated reporting locations include:

• Miami Beach Marina, 300 Alton Road, both Sunday and Monday noon to 8 p.m. (305) 673-6000.

• Lauderdale Marina, 1900 Southeast 15th St., Fort Lauderdale, both Sunday and Monday noon to 8 p.m. (954) 523-8507.

• Sailfish Marina on Singer Island, 98 Lake Drive, Palm Beach shores, Monday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday noon to 7 p.m.
