DMV Worker Faces Trial For Bribery

The DMV clerk who faces federal bribery charges is free on her own recognizance until her upcoming trial. Last week, a grand jury indicted 52-year-old Marilyn Millender on one count of bribery and one count of making false statements. According to the indictment, Millender was a clerk at the DMV office on North Decatur Boulevard when she was allegedly paid for making drivers licenses and ID cards for illegal immigrants between June and December 2007. The indictment also accuses Millender of lying about the payments to FBI agents. Millender appeared in federal court Friday, and her trial has been scheduled for November 4th. If convicted on all the charges, Millender faces up to 15 years in prison and a 500 thousand dollar fine. In 2004, former DMV worker Dalva Flagg was convicted for accepting bribes in exchange for making ID's for illegal immigrants. She was sentenced to 71 months in prison.
