Man arrested at border for felony possession of pills

A Canadian man living in Montana was arrested at the Sweetgrass Port of Entry last week after inspection officers found him hiding in a semi-truck while carrying nearly 600 prescription-quality pills.

The man, identified by the Toole County Sheriff’s Department as Michael Hofer, 64, is a Canadian man who listed his residence as Harlowtown, Mont.

Officers arrested Hofer with 255 Xanax tablets and 321 Darvon pills on his possession. He didn’t have a prescription for the pills, customs agents said.
