CALEXICO — Two people were arrested in connection with the discovery of more than $1.1 million worth of cocaine this week in two incidents, according to a press statement.

On Tuesday, a 28-year-old Coachella man was arrested after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found 73 pounds of cocaine in the 2000 Ford Excursion he was driving at the downtown Port of Entry, the statement read.

The second cocaine seizure occurred later in the day with the discovery of 23 wrapped packages of cocaine hidden inside a 2008 Chrysler Sebring, according to the statement.

The driver, a 55-year-old Yuma man, was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities, as was the suspect in the first cocaine seizure, the statement read.
