El Paso CBP Officers Arrest Juvenile for Smuggling Cocaine in Car Battery

El Paso, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the El Paso port of entry seized 4.79 pounds of cocaine Tuesday morning.

CBP officers discovered the drugs in the battery of a 1991 Dodge Stratus that arrived in El Paso from Juarez, Mexico. A 17-year-old Juarez male was arrested in the foiled smuggling attempt. In addition, CBP officers intercepted 476 pounds of marijuana in four other seizures. The estimated street value of the drugs is $524,500.
