Lou Dobbs Tonight
Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Lou’s new book INDEPENDENTS DAY is now on sale in bookstores
and on Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. In Independents Day,
Lou issues a rallying cry to American citizens eager for a
change, focusing particularly on the critical issues and
challenges of the 2008 election.

Tonight, Democrat John Edwards and Republican Rudolph Giuliani
dropped out of the presidential race today. Giuliani was set to
throw his support to John McCain, while Edwards said he won’t
make an endorsement right away. What does it mean for the
remaining candidates? We’ll have the latest from the campaign
trail.

Plus, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates today for the
fifth time since September. What does it accomplish for middle
class Americans? We’ll take a closer look.

A series of Government Accountability Office reports released
today show that the Food and Drug Administration is severely
understaffed and so overwhelmed by a flood of imports that it
is incapable of protecting the public from unsafe drugs,
medical devices, and food. We’ll have a special report.

And with the field of presidential candidates narrowing, the
candidates’ positions on illegal immigration narrow as well.
All three senators in the race supported the failed
comprehensive immigration reform bill that would have granted
amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Mitt Romney has a
slightly tougher stance, but hasn’t proposed a concrete plan. A
full report tonight on the candidates’ positions ahead of the
critical Super Tuesday primaries.
