Thread: More than 4,000 undocumented were arrested in Mexico in Feb

Mexico City (Reuters)- The National Migration Institute (INM) arrested a total of 4,612 undocumented aliens during the month of February in Mexico, reported Sunday.

These arrests were classified into three groups, detailed the Institute attached to the Ministry of the Interior (Segob) said in a statement.

In the first there were 3,089 citizens of Central American origin, arrested by personnel of the INM in 298 operating road and 38 in railways.

Of that total, 2,716 are 373 women and men, of whom 1,451 are Guatemalans, 1,021 Hondurans 485 Salvadorans, Nicaraguans 55 and 77 belonging to various nationalities.

The second operational occurred in airports and bus stations, where most assured 231 foreigners.

Finally in the third group 1.292 migrants were arrested, with base in operating sets with other units.

The Interior noted that the Institute is intended to ensure the repatriation of undocumented aliens in a dignified, agile, orderly and safe manner to their country of origin, as well as to avoid that they are victims of organized crime.

This Saturday, the Bishop Raul Vera proposed to implement a temporary visa that allowed migrants to travel for two months for Mexico, with the aim of avoiding travelling underground and are victims of crime organized.

According to the latest Special report on migrant kidnappings in Mexico of the National Commission on human rights (CNDH), 11,333 migrants were kidnapped during 2010 in the country.
