Illegal immigrant arrested for rape of juvenile

Morgan County, Mo. -
An illegal immigrant was arrested after allegedly raping a juvenile in the Otterville area.
Edgar Menendez, also known as Joel Rubio, 26, of Sedalia, is being held on first-degree burglary and forcible rape charges.
According to a news release issued by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Menendez allegedly entered the home of the victim while her parents were gone and committed the crimes.
Menendez’s girlfriend, Crystal Vasques, 26, also of Sedalia, took the juvenile across state lines to Illinois to dispose of the evidence.
Vasques is charged with tampering with physical evidence. She is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
Menendez is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
The release also states that Menendez is here in the United States illegally.
The Sedalia Police Department and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department to locate both suspects.
