Just another lie, his lies have become too numerous to even count or try to keep track of.
He put everything, 70 legislative actions, into one bill, one version in the House, one version in the Senate, padded it with a DACa deal to convince DemoQuacks to sign on, so it could be passed. It didn't work because our organization and several others lobbied against it because of the DACA component. The only alternative to that was to win big in the midterms, keep the House and try to elect 9 more Republicans to the US Senate so we could pass that bill without DemoQuack votes or a DACA component. But Republicans lost the House and only gained 2 Senate Seats. No law we want is possible now.
Why is it a lie? If you don't have state-licensed detention space, under the law you have to release them. If there are children involved, you have to release them within 20 days under the law due to the Flores Agreement which is a settlement agreement with the Federal Court. If the illegal alien is an asylum seeker, under the law you have to release them pending their asylum hearing. If the illegal alien is just a plain ole illegal alien, under a federal court ruling, they are entitled to bail after 6 months without a trial. If they post bail, under the law, you have to release them. Due to the back-log in DOJ which is now almost 800,000 waiting in line for a hearing, and DOJ processes about 87,000 a year, an illegal alien arrested today will be released in 6 months or earlier depending on whether children or families are involved, and they are free to roam our land for at least 9 years before they even have their first immigration court hearing.
The reason we don't have enough detention space is because DOJ hasn't done their job keeping up. The reason we have to release these children and families is because Border Patrol allowed them into the country when their job was to keep them out.
Will a wall fix any of that? No, it won't. Trump's DACA deal would have fixed all of that plus reduced legal immigration by eliminating chain migration and the visa lottery, plus several other provisions that would have reduced legal immigration while fixing the problems that generate illegal immigration. The trade off though was in the House bill, 3 year work permits for 3 times (9 years, no pathway to citizenship) for 590,000 DACA's and in the Senate Version, 3 year work permits for 4 times (12 years) for DACA's and their parents, and based on good records and some other standards a pathway to citizenship.
When those of us who want to end illegal immigration into the US can't agree on how to do it with the options available, then the status quo wins and the problem continues and in this case because Republicans lost the House in the mid-terms, worsens rapidly.
In business, we call this situation a quagmire. At home, we call it a giant clusterfxck.
All of that to try to make excuses for this lie. He knew all that you just wrote when he made this statement.
✔@realDonaldTrump
Migrants at the Southern Border will not be allowed into the United States until their claims are individually approved in court. We only will allow those who come into our Country legally. Other than that our very strong policy is Catch and Detain. No “Releasing” into the U.S...
Whatever .... go call some DemoQuacks and express your demands. Trump can't help you. He doesn't have the funds, he doesn't have the laws, he won't get most of the court rulings he wants either. Americans made their choice on November 6, 2018 what direction they wanted to take this country on immigration. My side lost that election. Yours won so go call them and send them money. Maybe they'll help you. Good luck!!
If they were given a speedy hearing which is their constitutional right, they would already be deported and their "beds" empty. We have 41,000 beds, an 800,000 back-log and 60,000 new ones a month pouring in. If you can't ask them 2 questions and roll them out of here in a couple of days, then you're the problem, not the detention space.
2 questions:
1. are you a US citizen, yes or no
2. if no, do you have valid unexpired documents to be in the US, yes or no
If no and no, then out you go. It takes 10 seconds. A court system that gives someone 9 years roaming our land in violation of US immigration law to get around to asking them 2 questions at an immigration court hearing is .... CORRUPT TO THE CORE and needs to be abolished and replaced with a nice simple administrative hearing in DHS who already knows whether they're citizens or not and whether or not they have valid unexpired docs to be in the US.
