Josue Jimenez CLEARWATER, FL -- Police say a man who was molesting a girl on the front step of her apartment after he followed home from her bus stop only stopped because the child said her mother was inside.

Josue Camacho Jimenez is charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and remains in custody on a $10,000 bond and at the request of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

A spokeswoman for Clearwater police declined to say where the alleged attack took place in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim, but said "it could have happened anywhere in the city."

On January 13, Jimenez allegedly followed two young girls home from their school bus stop. When they arrived at the 12-year-old victim's apartment, Jimenez allegedly pushed her up against a railing outside her home and began touching her inappropriately, according Elizabeth Watts, a spokeswoman for the Clearwater police department.

Watts said the second child ran for help; an affidavit obtained by ABC Action News at the Pinellas County Jail, written by the arresting officer, said the child got away "by telling the defendant her mother was home."

A neighor who claimed to know Jimenez called the charges hard to believe.

"That just doesn't make any sense whatsoever," said Dawn Montez."It's just not his type of personality; he's not that type of person."
