SEARCH WARRANTS SERVED IN MIGRANT CAMP VANDALISM INVESTIGATI

Search warrants served in migrant camp vandalism investigation

    By: North County Times

NORTH COUNTY ---- San Diego police served search warrants to the homes of San Diego Minutemen founder Jeff Schwilk and migrant camp critic Julie Adams Wednesday morning as part of the investigation into vandalism at migrant camps in Rancho Penasquitos last January, authorities said.

Vandals tore into the camps over the weekend of Jan. 27 and 28, destroying clothing, sleeping bags, jackets and other belongings, San Diego police spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.

According to police, a migrant worker who lives in one of the camps told them that four men and two women were allegedly involved in the vandalism.

An investigation into the case is ongoing and no arrests have been made, Munoz said.

Police also served a search warrant last month to former Minutemen spokeswoman Christie Czajkowski. The search resulted in the confiscation of a personal computer, video camera and video tapes.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the San Diego Police Northeastern Division at (85 538-8000 or Crime Stoppers at (88 580-TIPS. Crime Stoppers offers up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests and callers may remain anonymous.

They are looking in the wrong place. Why don't they start looking for the illegal gang members coming over the border. MS -13 would be the first group I would be looking into.

MS-13 thrives on threats and fears and pressures illegal aliens to join their gang. MS-13 probably thinks their a perfect group to attack for new recruits.

I agree with going after the criminals. Earlier this evening I spoke with my friend who writes bail bonds and she told me about her fear of illegals. When they get arrested they use what ever ID they have or claim to be whoever and that is the name they get arrested under. We do not know who they are as their finger prints are not on file here. In South Dade County they get arrested for the usual DUI or fighting. Their nice employer on the farms or nuresry bond their employee out and the bail bond writer has to take them to the farm in their vehicle to get the money for the bond. My friend won't do those as you don't really know who these people are or what they are capable of doing. Some of the bail bond people have been stabbed or beaten once they arrive to their destination with the illegal. I won't feel sorry for the farmer or nursery worker if the illegal skips out on him and they loose the bail money. I guess it still makes for cheap labor in their eyes.

If only the police would be as diligent in going after the alien camp squatters and all the other crimes committed by illegals we wouldn't have these illegal camps in the first place. I don't agree with anyone who breaks the law as a part of anti-illegal immigration activism, but this seems to me to be a witch-hunt by the SDPD.

I wonder how many man hours were spent investigating this fiasco. We have masses of crimes committed by illegals everyday here in San Diego County, from murder to vandalism - but what a surprise, I have yet to see a single news story about the grafitti, vandalism and destruction of private or public property committed by illegals - but when an illegal is the so-called victim, the local TV news makes it into a headline, top of the newscast tragedy, like they did tonight.

They interviewed a police spokeshole, and she said how terrible this incident was, and how important it is for the police to protect the illegals from such awful hate crimes by the bigoted, racist MinuteMen types, regardless of their immigration status. The local pro-illegal, open borders types were screaming bloody genocide and saying how this proves that anyone who is against the invasion is a rabid, murderous, anti-Mexican racist. Of course, when illegals commit crimes they say that you can't judge all illegals by the actions of a few, but when something like this happens, they have no problem blasting everyone who is against illegal immigration as racist because of the actions of a few, if in fact these people are responsible.

Illegals rape, molest, rob, murder, carjack, vandalize, commit ID theft and fraud and there is hardly even a mention, but when an illegal gets their feelings hurt, it is a local catastrophe. But this is what you get in terms of police work and media coverage here in Mexico's Finest City

I would be looking at their own people. Most likely, it is an illegal alien, looking for some sympathy. It's not unlike an arsonist who starts a big fire, and then volunteers to help put it out.
I am sorry that their possessions were destroyed, but these squatters should not have been camping out on private property in the 1st place.

Warrants served in connection with migrant camp vandalism

By: SARAH WILKINS - Staff Writer
    Thursday March, 22, 2007

NORTH COUNTY -- San Diego police served search warrants at the homes of San Diego Minutemen leader Jeff Schwilk and migrant camp critic Julie Adams on Wednesday morning as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into vandalism at migrant camps in Rancho Penasquitos in January, authorities said.

Vandals tore into the camps -- all in an area that has housed makeshift migrant encampments for decades -- during the weekend of Jan. 27 and 28, cutting and destroying clothing, sleeping bags, and other belongings, San Diego police spokeswoman Monica Munoz said.

The determination by police to serve search warrants to Schwilk and Adams was based on victim and witness statements, Munoz said. However, an investigation into the case is continuing and no suspects have been named, she said.

"Based on (what is found) today, this could provide a new direction to go in or information to make an arrest," though no arrests had been made by Wednesday, Munoz said.

At this point, police are not investigating the incident as a hate crime, Munoz said. However, "that could change depending on what comes up," she said.

Munoz also said she could not comment on the items seized from Adams' and Schwilk's homes.

Police seized a personal computer, video camera and videotape after serving a search warrant last month at the Chula Vista home of former Minutemen spokeswoman Christie Czajkowski, Munoz said.

In an affidavit filed with the Superior Court to obtain a search warrant for Czajkowski's home, Detective Patrick Lenhart alleged that between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Jan. 27, two women -- one identified later by a witness as Czajkowski -- and four men were seen leaving their cars and walking in the canyon areas where three encampments were vandalized.

One of the women was seen videotaping the others as they destroyed property at one of the camps, Lenhart wrote in the affidavit.

Adams, who lives near the camps, did not return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday, but said to the North County Times shortly after the vandalism that she had not heard about it.

"I don't think it's a good idea," she said then of the vandalism, "but I don't like what they (the people living in the camps) are doing, either."

Schwilk, of Oceanside, also could not be reached Wednesday, but told the North County Times on March 8 that he had nothing to do with the vandalism. He also said earlier this month that police know Minutemen go to the migrant camp areas often and were there the morning of Jan. 27, though they did not commit any of the alleged crimes.

One alleged victim identified Czajkowski in a photo lineup as part of the group he saw damaging his property, however Czajkowski said Wednesday that she was out of town at the time of the vandalism.

In response to allegations that Minutemen are responsible for the vandalism, she said, "there is no evidence to support that at all."

Furthermore, police have refused to investigate crimes against Minutemen, she said, adding that she believes the warrants are an effort by authorities to "cover up evidence."

Immigrant rights activist Claudia Smith said Tuesday that she welcomes "any step that brings law enforcement closer to resolving this case."

"The great concern about this has been that it's a very small step from the type of very disturbing slash job that was done to more than half a dozen encampments to something much uglier," she said. "It's very important that whoever did it (should) not get away with it."

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to call the San Diego Police Northeastern Division at (85 538-8000 or Crime Stoppers at (88 580-TIPS. Crime Stoppers offers up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrests and callers may remain anonymous.
