EDWARDS, Colorado — Police have arrested four men they say got into a bloody brawl after attending a baby shower last week in Edwards, Colorado.

Ramon Montes Jaquez, 29, of Avon, and Manuel Gonzalez Esparza, 30, of Minturn, were charged with second degree assault — a class four felony. Minturn resident Jonathan Arrequin Ponce, 21, and Alonzo Jaques Montes, 22, of Avon, were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Police investigated the Oct. 4 altercation at Homestead Meadows after an Edwards resident reported finding a large amount of blood and clothing in the parking lot of the housing complex the following morning.

The four men were attending a baby shower at an apartment in the development. Around 11 p.m. they went outside and began fighting, police said.

Police said one man hit another in the face with a beer bottle. The man that was hit allegedly retaliated by grabbing a metal car jack striking his attacker in the head with it.

Police are unsure why the fight started, but believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
Two men involved in the fight were transported to Vail Valley Medical Center that night. One was treated and released. The other was flown to Denver for advanced treatment and later released.

Eagle County Sheriff spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly said the investigation took longer because police didn’t receive report of the incident the night it happened.

“If people would have called we might have been able to wrap this up a little bit quicker,â€
