Illegals_climb The influx or more than a quarter of a million illegal aliens into Maryland didn't happen by accident, but rather by design.

A combination of factors, including the middle class flight from the state's major cities, a booming construction and service economy, and a political formula that determines federal funding and Congressional representation by a body count -- rather than a citizen count -- all fueled the coming together of disparate interests.

It was for their individual, selfish interests that federal and local government officials, liberal advocacy groups, foundations and members of the business community came together to embrace and promote the wholesale immigration of illegal aliens into the Free State.

The only people who had no say in this grand scheme were the majority of the state's citizens, which, consequently, also had nothing to gain -- and potentially much to lose from this mass migration.

If they wanted more people, why not legal immigrants? Immigrants who are educated and self-supporting?

Instead we import more poverty?!?!

That's really sad. Baltimore is a great city, at least it used to be. (I haven't been there in a few years.) It's criminal that they are encouraging them to move there!
