A brave 8-year-old Brookline girl escaped from a sexual assault at her Chestnut Hill apartment complex by yanking her attacker’s long hair when he bent down.

Police said it was one of two heinous attacks on young girls in Brookline this month.

The young girl told police she was lured into a hall closet in her apartment building and sexually assaulted by a maintenance worker while her mother unpacked groceries.

Two days later, police arrested Lindomar Monteiro, 29, of Medford, on charges of indecent assault and battery and kidnapping of a child.

Police said Monteiro is an illegal Brazilian immigrant and they have notified the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the arrest.

In an unrelated case, police said two men persuaded a 14-year-old Brookline girl to perform oral sex for money after being threatened with no ride home.

Police arrested Jeremy Perea, 17, of Brookline on charges of inducing a minor to become a prostitute and sexual conduct for pay. Matthew Downing, 25, also of Brookline, was charged with statutory rape.

Police said Perea refused to drive two girls home after a failed “hook-up” unless one of them had sex with Downing. Police said both girls refused to have intercourse, but one agreed to perform oral sex.
