08:10 PM MST on Monday, August 20, 2007

By Alicia Barrón, Fox 11 News

Over 50 of illegal immigrants were discovered by border agents as they were being smuggled into the country in a single motor home recreational vehicle.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents from the Tucson sector performed a traffic stop on on the RV along Highway 82 on August 19 while performing routine duties in Sonoita.

According to a media release, Border Patrol agents asked to perform a closer inspection of the vehicle after they say the driver’s nervous actions were suspicious.

All 54 individuals, determined to be Mexican nationals, including the driver were arrested and taken to the local Border Patrol station for processing before being deported.

The RV was seized and remains in custody of the Border Patrol.
