MEXICO - Fox has solution for drug cartels: "LEGALIZE D
Mexico Ex-President Fox Calls for Drug Legalization
Bloomberg
By Jonathan J. Levin and Jens Erik Gould
Former Mexican President Vicente Fox said his country should legalize the production and sale of drugs in order to curb rising cartel-related violence.
Legalizing narcotics would curtail funding to organized crime groups, who are using profits from the drug trade to consolidate power, Fox wrote yesterday on his personal website.

Sure Fox wants to pollute and ruin our kids with Meth and Coke and Heroin.
He wants to be king narco terrorist.
What he fails to see is that is polluting his very own people.
I look at all his beloved illegals here and more than half have Meth addiction problems.
Ephedra is BANNED in the US.
They import it from China and have super labs cook it.

You will never be able to stop all of the illegal drugs coming into our country, and all that is produced within our country!
People need to understand that there is no way to totally do away with illegal drugs. We tried Prohibition with alcohol in the 1920's and part of the 1930's, and look how well that worked. Once Prohibition was lifted, the violence among mafia and gangs who dealt in the alcohol was severely curtailed. The same would happen if Mexico and the USA simply legalized most or all of the illegal drugs.
The cartels and drug dealers WANT the drugs to stay illegal. That's how they get wealthy. Legalize it, and they no longer make the money they once did.
People in both countries are going to use drugs whether they are legal or illegal. People in both countries are going to have guns whether they are legal or illegal. People in both countries are going to have cigarettes, beer, and whiskey whether those products are legal or illegal.
Our borders must be secured, but law enforcement is not the answer to the illegal drug problem. The DEA gets more and more money every year, with worse and worse results. The more money and resources we grant them, the worse results we get.
Illegal immigration is something that both governments can stop. But when you talk about a product, it cannot be stopped.
I know that I am alone on this viewpoint, but I can't stress enough that the War on Drugs is not working, and will never work as long as we try to combat it with more DEA agents. You have to educate people on the dangers of drugs, treat them for their addictions, and give them something to strive for (or to live for). People need inspiration and goals. They don't need to be thrown into jail for being a drug user.

The thing is "ostrich" many programs have been out there for years telling, preaching, educating people on the dangers of drugs and to no avail. So people know the dangers in it and they know the dangers in dealing it.
And possibly legalizing some of it may work. And as you say making it illegal causes some of these problems, just as some people do it JUST BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL. It is the intrigue and the unknown. Living on the edge.
Either way someone is making a ton of money on it and it is people you would rather not have around you."When you have knowledge, you have a responsibility to do better"_ Paula Johnson

Hey FOX,IF we ever legalize drugs here such as marijuana we will grow it our selves.
We don't need your drugs moron. You cannot dedicate yourself to America unless you become in every

Good points "uniteasone". In all fairness, the extreme approach of even more law enforcement and my extreme approach of total legalization are probably not the most practical methods for dealing with this issue.
As far as legalization, try it first with marijuana, which is the least-destructive drug of the illegal drugs. See if that takes pressure off of our borders and law enforcement. See if you get a large increase in new users. You'd have to do it over a 5 to 10 year period to really see if you get results.
The other point would be how we deal with drug users. Perhaps fines or no prosecution at all for those people. Our jails are already overcrowded; we want to keep as many people out of jail as we can, so we have room for violent offenders, and those business owners who hire illegal aliens.
I think that government at the local (county, city) level would deal with the illegal drug problem the best. I say that because some towns/cities have less of a problem than others, and why should citizens in rural Iowa, let's say with a very small drug problem, have to pay taxes to pay for the huge drug problems in Baltimore and Philadelphia? The Federal government should mainly be involved when it comes to securing our ports and borders; otherwise, keep them out of fighting drugs. Too much Federal bureaucracy and inefficiency just wastes Federal tax dollars.
There is a solution out there somewhere...I'm glad that we're talking about it on this forum.

Incredibly, I am finding there is a large number of "CONSERVATIVES" who are unable to differentiate the wholesale destruction on a society that the opiate and hallucinogenic drugs have as compared to alcohol.
These people need to do some research on what has happened to Europe since these drugs have been decriminalized.
