CBP Catches 2 Murder Suspects at Otay Mesa Port of Entry

San Diego — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers apprehended two murder suspects who entered the United States in the same vehicle through the Otay Mesa border station Saturday evening, officials announced today.

CBP officers encountered 32-year-old Cesar Otero and 25-year-old Diana Rayos Vasquez, both from Los Angeles as they entered the port in a Nissan Quest on Saturday, April 3, at about 11:30 p.m.

Mr. Otero, a citizen of Mexico, presented his lawfully issued permanent resident alien card to the primary officer who queried the card against law enforcement databases and learned that Mr. Otero was wanted. Officers escorted the vehicle and occupants to the secondary inspection area for further investigation.

During the secondary inspection, officers determined that Ms. Vasquez, a U.S. citizen, was also wanted. Both Mr. Otero and Ms. Vasquez were wanted on outstanding no-bail felony warrants for homicide issued by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Mr. Otero and Ms. Vasquez were later turned over to the custody of detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department homicide unit.
