Dallas suburb sued over electoral system

    The Associated Press

DALLAS — A Dallas suburb that's repeatedly made national headlines over efforts to ban illegal immigrants from renting housing finds its city electoral system again challenged in court.

Ten Hispanic residents filed a federal civil rights suit in Dallas on Tuesday against Farmers Branch, alleging its at-large system for electing the five-member city council denies Hispanic residents representation. It calls for adoption of a single-member voting plan.

The lawsuit cites census figures that Hispanic residents comprise 48 percent of the estimated 2008 population of more than 28,000, 25 percent of which were Hispanic residents eligible to vote. Census studies show Hispanic residents are concentrated in one section of the city, but the lawsuit contends citywide voting denies them a council seat.

All five council members and the mayor are white. A previous lawsuit on the issue was dismissed.

Me thinks these hispanics are not so concerned about representation for hispanics but representation for ILLEGAL hispanics. And ILLEGALS do not qualify for representation in any civil court in this country as far as I'm concerned - they are NOT citizens of this country and are not supposed to be in this country anyway. So they cannot "legally" rent... duh...

I have to remind myself too often to remember that there are many good legal hispanics but I sure as heck get so............................ tired of this constant whine, whine, whine by these demanding ingrates! ARGGGGGHHH..

If you don't like our laws you are free to emigrate right back to where you came from.....!

They're going to try to change the voting rules and allow the voter to cast 5 votes for the same candidate. It was done in upstate NY town recently. This idiotic rule must be stopped!
