The Plant City Living Center has told Mrs. Arnold, an 85-year-old grandmother in Florida, that federal law prohibits her from displaying any religious words or items associated with Christmas in the common area of her apartment building.

According to the Center, The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued a directive banning "any religious symbols or religious words associated with Christmas." Under the guidelines issued by HUD, the elderly grandmother cannot place a small Christmas tree outside her door (because that area is a "commons area") if it contains any religious symbols or religious words, even an angel!

If the residents want to have a Christmas party in their Community room, they cannot call it a Christmas party. The Center says HUD directs residents not to use the word "Christmas" but to use the word "Holiday."

A Sunday School class from a church near Mrs. Arnold's apartment comes every year to host a Hanging of the Greens and Christmas Party for all the residents. She said the highlight of their Christmas Party comes at the very end of The Hanging of the Greens when someone places the angel on top of their Christmas tree. Their tradition is now banned by the federal government.

The federal government is becoming increasingly active in banning Christianity from the public square. Earlier, the National Park Service removed the wording "Laus Deo" (Latin for "Praise be to God") from a replica of the cap of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. and the Veterans Administration banned the script of the flag-folding ceremony mentioning "Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob," and "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" at over 100 national cemeteries. Both of these were rescinded after AFA supporters sent emails to proper authorities.

I have a 56 year old Angel that goes on the top of my tree each year. It celebrates the year I was born and has been a family tradition ever since.

I will be damned if someone would tell me I had to break this tradition. I am so fed up with government PC.

What is going to become of our Country. I think we can see the writing on the wall as to the answer.

I just sent them an email stating my disgust with their rules under fair housing.

If the Empire State Building can be lit up with green lights in honor of a Muslim holiday, then angels, etc. must be acceptable as Christmas decorations. The angels, etc. being in honor of our Christmas holiday.

I suspect, in the near future, that our children and adults will start being arresting for making snow angels. I have had enough!

If I can't find Christmas cards this year that say "Merry Christmas" then I will not be sending any out.

The US Federal Gov is the only gov in the world that will allow systematic destruction of the culture from which it came. This no religious symbols thing is total crap. We live in a society that is based on a Judeo-Christian / Greco - Roman model.

What would happen if you told a Catholic in Spain, you can't have a Virgin Mary in a common area of an apartment complex-they would laugh at you.

Try to tell a muslim that they can't have refernces to the Koran around during Ramadan or Eid.

Tell an indiginous cutlture in New Guinnea that they can't display whatever it is they display at their holidays, even if they are on government ground-and someone would get wacked over the head with a spear.

The US is the only country that actively seeks to undermine its own culture-this is shear stupidity!!

The funniest thing about this is that I used to live in the United Arab Emirates, and every Christmas season, the CITY, that's right the CITY would display Christmas lights all over town, in the streets, on the buildings, you could even see Santa in a muslim country...paid for by the CITY.....Feds wake up, you are idiots.

Worst case? Tell 'em it's Nike or Isis, not an "angel" and to STFU.

Best case this will get flushed like the crapola it is.

An angel? Good grief. And we're not even talking about a sword wielding avenger here, just an innocent angel.

People need to get over themselves and let others be, this has gone way past ridiculous into something out of some movie or something.

Thanks "working4change", I will do this today, I am also going to contact my congressmen and tell them I do not want my tax money going to any government agency "Hud" that is taking away the right of the christians in this country to display what ever christian symbols at christmas they want. and I will continue to tell people "Merry Christmas".

It is time people who come to this country learns "Tolerance" of Americans right to freedom of religion and to respect the customs of Americans that have been in place for more than 300 years.

It is time for this government to get out of our daily lives and the right of our freedom of speech.

Let me put it clearly , anyone who does not like it has the freedom to leave, they have the right to reside in another country.

I am going to fax basically this message to congress today. And if I were that lady I would display that Angel and let the consequences fall where they may, Actually I would love for this governmetn to sue me for expressing my freedom of speech.
