    Illegals hired at Senor Pancho's

The owner of Senor Pancho's, a popular Mexican restaurant with locations in Monroe, Southbury, Prospect and Litchfield, admitted in federal court Tuesday that his chain employed at least 10 illegal aliens in the past year.

Andrew Adames, 43, of 41 Punkup Road, Oxford, waived his right to a grand jury indictment and pleaded guilty to unlawful employment of aliens during proceedings before Senior U.S. District Judge Peter C. Dorsey in the New Haven federal courthouse. Adames was released on bond pending a Sept. 18 sentencing.

While the offense carries a maximum five year prison term, Adames, who has no criminal record, only faces up to six months in jail based on a preliminary calculation of his federal sentencing guidelines. He did agree to forfeit $150,000 to the government payable in three $50,000 installments.

Adames admitted he employed at least 10 illegal aliens in his restaurants between January, 2008 and January, 2009. None of the 10 were charged federally with entering the country illegally.

Adames is represented by Diane Polan, a New Haven lawyer.

His restaurants bill themselves as "a little Tex...a lot of Mex." The Monroe site is located on 262 Main Street on Route 25.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires employers to hire only American citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States. Employers must verify eligibility of any persons hired after November 6, 1986 by completing an

Employment Eligibility Verification form. The employer is required to examine the documentation provided by the individual that establishes his or her identity and employment eligibility to ensure that the documents appear to be genuine and relate to the individual. The employer must retain the verification form for three years after the person is hired or one year after the employee leaves the job.

Often illegal aliens use counterfeit Social Security or identification cards in securing employment.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas Morabito prosecuted the case which was investigated by agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General.

I wonder what kind of sweet deal the illegals received for their testimony?

    CT-Illegals hired at Senor Pancho's

I know Andy . He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He has been like a Father to his employees. Supporting their extended families for years. I know Breaking the law is not right.. But this still hurts. I pray for full restoration for his family and restaurants. He has done so much for the community and really is a great person. I think it will be sad if his does any Jail time. -

It doesn't matter if Andy is the nicest man in the world. He violated federal hiring laws by employing illegal aliens who most likely stole innocent people's identities as 75 percent of them do to illegally obtain jobs and benefits ruining their lives. He willingly violated our laws and needs to be held accountable for his actions. Would you feel the same way tileman if an illegal alien stole your identity? Do you hire illegal aliens in your business if you have one as you don't seem to care about our laws and the willful violation of them which also shuts struggling unemployed Americans out of needed jobs. A nation without laws cannot exist as a sovereign entity.
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.

Welcome tileman. I feel your sympathy. However, as a victim of ID theft there is no sympathy here from me. What he put into the community was taken away once he allowed people like myself to become victims of his hiring practices.

Speaking of which, I saw that Tyson finally uses e-verify. I wonder if my case had anything to do with it?

Let me start off by saying here that all this talk of "ANDY" being a nice guy, is CRAP.

The guy is a sleeze ball. a scum bag. a real piece of WORK.

his employees are nothing more than modern day SLAVES.

If you really, and i mean REALLY knew what he did, and what went down for YEARS before he was caught, You'd be calling for his head.

shall we pray for "full restoration" for the other 20 million illegals. Believe it or not, what you have is a form of Stockholm Syndrome. It is entirely true that bad guys can have good sides. I am sure even Hitler had family and friends who thought he was a "good guy". Nonetheless this "good guy" did not hire as many Americans as he would have. He aided and abetted illegals in being financial drains on schools, hospitals and taxpayers in general.
We paid their health and education expenses and our children did not get jobs.

Yea, like a father allright. forcing his employees to work 15 hour days for 5 bucks!

Supporting there extended families for years? yea, who wouldn't want to live in a 2 family house with 6 other families with each one paying the rent so andy makes the rent plus a 500% mark up profit?

Of course it still hurts?! andy will have less money in his pockets to invest in his multi million dollar home and vehicles. Too bad none of his employees drive the same cars or own the same homes.

His family? o brother, you should see how his FAMILY treat the employees.
