McCain, Kyl push for expansion of border security

PHOENIX - Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl continue to push for expansion of a federal program that requires jail time for illegal immigrants every time they cross the U.S-Mexico border.

The Republican senators say Operation Streamline so far has been a highly effective deterrent to border crossings in the Yuma sector, where illegal immigrant apprehensions have decreased about 90 percent in the last three years.

McCain and Kyl want to know what dollars and resources are needed to fully implement the operation in the Tucson sector and other sectors along the Southwest border where illegal crossings and apprehension numbers remain high.

The senators have called on Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano to resubmit within 30 days a required report on Operation Streamline.

Napolitano was in Havre (HAV-er), Mont., on Wednesday discussing border security issues and did not directly address Kyl and McCain's criticism. But Napolitano says Operation Streamline ``in itself is extraordinarily expensive.''

McCain wants jail time for illegal aliens every time they cross the US-Mexico border. Terrific, after all, this is existing US Law.

Operation Streamline. Terrific! This is the Bush program to enforce the law.

McCain and Kyl want to enforce US immigration law. Well, gee, I guess it's about time, huh? Unfortunately, we have the wrong President to do that, and the wrong Congress to make him, so the best we can hope for is that when Shamnesty comes up again, McCain and Kyl will both vote "HELL NO".

Did JD Hayworth make a difference after all? Did all the work of ALIPACERS and thousands of Arizonans make a difference this primary election?

Perhaps so. Doing the right thing, even when you lose, has benefits, makes a difference, and moves it forward.

Lets keep the pressure on McCain and Kyl.

I hear ya justhefacts.

If he does that he will need body guards and will be forced to move out of AZ imo.

Everyone knows the promises he made so now he will be watched like a hawk to make sure he keeps his promises.

Also I hope it scared the bejeezas out of Kyle too.The AZ citizens have spoken loud and clear and so far both are responding to the outcry over Illegal Immigration .
