County police get official do’s and don’ts on immigration
New directive nears completion, does not embrace a don’t-check policy

As immigration arrests are occurring in the county at a record pace, county police are getting their first look at a new directive on when and why they can ask someone’s immigration status or participate in immigration arrests.



Essentially, the directive makes official what county officers have been doing and does not condone the don’t-check policy that some immigration advocates had wanted.
