The Scottsboro Police Department is continuing its fight against illegal aliens. Recently, three more illegal aliens were arrested and will be deported Friday, according to Police Chief Ralph Dawe.

Cirilo Parra Ojeda, 35, was arrested on Aug. 26 and charged with DUI; Armando Rosalino Otero, 22, was arrested on Aug. 27 and charged with Public Intoxication and Violation of the Open Container Law; and Luis Alfonso Garcia, 35, was arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with Violation of the Open Container law.

Ojeda had a Scottsboro address, while Otero had an Albertville address and Garcia had an Atlanta address.

That brings the total of illegal aliens deported from Scottsboro to eight in the past month, Dawe said.

After an arrest, the department runs a suspected illegal alien's name through Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE). The agency does a comprehensive check on the detainee's background.

Dawe says many immigrants do not have proper identification, making it difficult on his department.

"It's a revolving door," Dawe said. "We arrest someone one day, then a day later they use a different name."

Dawe has called it "a law enforcement nightmare for us." He said he had no idea how many illegal aliens are in Scottsboro.

However, so far, he has been pleased with the success of his department and ICE.

"I am very satisfied with [ICE's] assistance," said Dawe. "They are helping us to identify these people."
