Dalton Daily Citizen

Investigators with the Conasauga Safe Streets Task Force are looking for what they say are seven known gang members with active warrants, including three who are wanted in connection with two different murders.

• Jose Chavez Hernandez, 18, is wanted in connection with murder and first degree forgery charges, and Omar Olvera, 18, is wanted in connection with murder. A police spokeswoman said the murder in question is the Feb. 22, 2006, shooting of David Perez, 21, on Underwood Street in Dalton. Perez died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen suffered while walking from one apartment complex to another, officials said at the time. He was shot by someone in the back seat of a car.

• Carlos Barrios, 23, is wanted in connection with the Aug. 28 stabbing death of 25-year-old Donal Jurandir Cunil Leiva in Calhoun. Barrios, also known by the alias Wilber Hernandez, was believed to be hiding somewhere in the Gordon County or Whitfield County areas, the Calhoun Police Department said last month.

Barrios, who is an illegal alien, has ties to the 18th Street Gang out of Los Angeles, Calif., and should be considered armed and dangerous, Calhoun police said.

• Jose Trinidad Perez Fraire, 20, is wanted for felony probation violation in connection with weapons possession, DUI, driving with a suspended license and other traffic charges.

• Celso Gomez, 24, is wanted in connection with possession of cocaine, giving false information and forgery charges.

• Eric Sanchez, 18, is wanted for failure to appear in connection with a theft charge.

• Sergio Hernandez Ortiz, 25, is wanted for DUI and other traffic charges.

Anyone with information on these individuals is asked to contact Detective Alan Woods with the Dalton Police Department at (706) 278-9085, extension 145. Individuals can also call the department’s crime tip hot line at (706) 278-9085, extension 221, if they wish to leave an anonymous tip.
