Maricopa County sheriff's deputies arrested four people on Wednesday suspected of stealing identities to work at a North Phoenix business.

Sheriff's Office investigators suspect 11 employees used fake identification to garner employment at Ameri-Fab, a steel fabrication business on West Williams Drive near 21st Avenue in North Phoenix. The arrests of the four people, all suspected to be illegal immigrants, stemmed from a six-month investigation, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.

Deputies surrounded the business about 7:30 a.m. A few people fled the business, and one man rolled himself up in a rug, trying to hide.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said deputies were looking for two or three more employees who didn't show up for work Wednesday.

Deputies obtained addresses for the employees and went to their homes. In the process of searching for them, deputies arrested a person, not related to the investigation, on suspicion of presenting false identification, according to MCSO.

An Ameri-Fab employee said the company had no comment.

Arpaio said there were five confirmed victims whose identities had been stolen. Some of the victims were notified, but MCSO deputies were working on letting the others know Wednesday.
