CO: Woman pulled from plane, arrested in fatal hit-and-run

Woman pulled from plane, arrested in fatal hit-and-run
posted by Dan Boniface 1 hr ago

DENVER - A woman who police believe was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 21-year-old valet on Saturday was pulled from a Mexico-bound flight and arrested Wednesday. She is one of four people arrested in connection to the case.

Valet Jose Medina was killed when he was hit by a vehicle while helping someone out of their car Saturday in front of the Rockstar Lounge near East 9th Avenue and Lincoln Street.

"The fourth arrest was of an individual that had boarded a plane to Mexico, which was stopped in Phoenix and the plane was diverted back to the gate where the Phoenix Police Department arrested her on a warrant for us," Lt. Robert Rock of Denver Police said.

Police say 31-year-old Norma Vera-Nolasco was pulled from the U.S. Air flight after it was forced to return to the gate. Phoenix Police say she was flying under an alias.

Rock says a Denver Police investigator is in Phoenix questioning Vera-Nolasco at the Maricopa County Jail.

Police say they also arrested 42-year-old Yolanda Bastida-Nolasco and 48-year-old Guadelupe Bastida in Colorado on Wednesday.

"These individuals were arrested for accessory after the fact here in Colorado," Rock said.

Police arrested 28-year-old Eliu Montes-Garcia in connection with the case on Tuesday, but did not give specifics of how he was involved. He had been deported from the U.S. twice.

Police say they are confident they have the vehicle used in the fatal hit-and-run. They say they are investigating the involvement of all four people in their custody.

At this point, police are not saying which suspect is the driver.

"We are thankful for the fact that the citizens of this great city have stepped forward to help us with this, with the various tips that have come in," Rock said.

Rock also thanked the Taxis on Patrol program which he says was instrumental in identifying the suspect vehicle's license plate number.

Well, they always seem to run back to Mexico after they commit a crime such as this don't they these people are nothing but criminals on top of criminals. she would have stayed in Mexico just long enough for the heat to pass on this case and, she would have crossed the border illegally by coming back again. these folks need to serve some serious "JAIL" time for crimes such as this, and then they should be deported and told that if they come here again illegally that they will serve a max of ten to fifteen years in prison. they don't deserve a slap on the wrist. that is why they keep crossing because they know nothing is going to happen to them. BTW, I knew she was Mexican before I read the article because that is their MO

How could she fly under an alias when Americans are all patted down, radiated, checked, vetted and dry cleaned?
