CBP U.S. Border Patrol Agents Seize 2 Vehicles, 1 Boat, More than 1 Ton of Marijuana and Recover Stolen Truck

On August 9, McAllen Border Patrol agents and CBP Office of Air and Marine agents prevented smugglers from taking a metal boat laden with marijuana back to Mexico. One ton of marijuana worth nearly $2 million, one metal boat, and two vehicles seized.

Agents working in Abram, Texas, saw three suspicious vehicles near the Rio Grande. Agents called for assistance from ATV units, boat patrol and a Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine helicopter.

As the agents arrived on the river’s edge the smugglers jumped in the water and swam to Mexico. Additionally, agents on boat patrol arrived in time to prevent the smugglers from taking a metal boat laden with marijuana back to Mexico.

In total, agents seized more than 2,400 pounds of marijuana from the vehicles and the boat. The three vehicles, one of which was reported stolen out of Pharr, and the metal boat were also seized. The stolen pickup truck was turned over to the Pharr Police Department, and the marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
