State Trooper Killed and Political Correctness

Below is what was in the Miami Herald and there is a shorter report on Channel 4 News. What really angers me is the fact that in the BOLO (be on the lookout) on police radios described the men in the vehicle were Hispanic but both articles do not mention this! I am awaiting to hear if the men indeed are illegals as there are many in that area.

FHP trooper shot, killed during traffic stopBY PHIL LONG
    plong@MiamiHerald.com

A veteran Florida Highway Patrol trooper was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Lake Placid in Central Florida Friday afternoon.

The dead trooper was identified as Sgt. Nicholas G. Sottile, 48, of Lake Placid. Sottile worked in Miami-Dade County during the early to mid-1980's, FHP Lt. Col. Ken Howes said.

Sottile, who had been with FHP for nearly 24 years, is married and has two children, one of whom is also an FHP trooper.

The shooting happened at 3:22 p.m., Howes said. As of late Friday police were searching for two men, including one who ran from the scene on U.S. 27. The other fled in a beige Toyota Camry, the FHP said.

Howes said FHP troopers, some with tracking dogs, were called in from throughout Central Florida to help local police search for the two suspects.

Since 1939, Howes said, 39 other troopers and one FHP auxiliary trooper have died in the line of duty.

''It's a dangerous job. It's high risk,'' Howes said. ``Troopers know that. They are out there protecting the citizens of the state of Florida.''

Sottile is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, daughter Heather and son Nicholas

The guys who did this are from Austin. The shooter is 17. I really hope he is tried as an adult. Unfortunatly he won't get the death penalty because of his age.

Weren't the two teenage drug smugglers from Houston that shot a Tennessee deputy twice in the head and ran over his body?

I thought it was Austin, but they were definitely from Texas. Well, from Mexico THROUGH Texas.

You're right, Pine. Looks like they're from Austin, too.

To clear this up, the two suspects in the Florida shooting have not been captured so we don't know who they are. swatchick said the BOLO said 2 Hispanic men. That's all we know.

The two young men from Austin shot and killed a Tennessee trooper last week and were captured the next day at a Nashville motel.

That's two more cops this week...

The media still has not mentioned that 2 men involved being Hispanic. What really makes me ill is that this story was on page 5 of the Local Section of the Miami Herald and not on the front page. The front page had stories on Iraq which is acceptable but the stories "Degree in hand, but no jobs back home" about Latin American scientists, "Couple head to Denver on whim of Web (the man is Hispanic) " and the story about a high school football player whose mother passed away shortly after his team won a state championship could have been put elsewhere in the paper.

As far as I am concerned, that is unacceptable.....these brave men and women are in the war zone when they are out inforcing the law especially in your area. They are all heros and a sizeable amount of them are being mowed down by illegals let into our country by our government's indifference! I say each of those men/women that gave their lives fighting for Americans safety should be a FRONT PAGE story

The two men in the car were caught and arrested in Georgia. The State Trooper pulled over the car as the driver was driving erratically. He went back to his car to call for back up. The passenger bailed as he must have known the driver's intention. When the Trooper returned to the car, the driver shot him and bailed. Both men were legals.
