BAD AXE — For the second time in nine months, police have apprehended the same illegal alien in Huron County.

Around 12:35 p.m. Sunday, Huron County Sheriff's Deputy Ryan Swartz received a tip that an illegal immigrant was working at a dairy farm in Rubicon Township. Swartz contacted the farm owner, who arranged for the deputy to speak with the immigrant, Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson reports.

Swartz met with and arrested the suspect, Octavio Munoz-Ortiz, 21, a native of Mexico. Deputies turned Munoz-Ortiz over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

Bad Axe police in April arrested Munoz-Ortiz after they said he assaulted his 21-year-old girlfriend. The girlfriend told police that Munoz-Ortiz was working at a dairy farm in Bingham Township.

Police turned Munoz-Ortiz over to the U.S. Border Patrol within days of the domestic altercation. Deputies are investigating how Munoz-Ortiz came to be once again working illegally in Huron County in such a short span, Hanson said.
