Will Democrats have to ditch immigration or climate change legislation? What will be the political fallout?
Two of the highest pre-Election Day priorities of congressional Democrats are immigration reform and climate change legislation. But election year political realities are setting in as key lawmakers are suggesting only one may be possible. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), says his partnership with Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) on climate change legislation may be imperiled if an immigration overhaul comes up for a vote before November.
