Culiacan, Sinaloa – The State Attorney General’s Office has announced that policemen have lost their lives in a confrontation with an armed group in Angostura. Six state Policemen and two Municipal Officers were killed and yet another Municipal Policeman was wounded.

Members of the State Preventive Police were on routine patrol on the Benito Juarez Highway when they came under gunfire. According to first reports, the police returned fire as a state helicopter searched for the gunmen. Members of the Federal Highway Patrol, firemen, Municipal Police and personnel from the Red Cross ambulances responded to the area.
