Former Republican congressman Virgil Goode may be leaving open the door to a possible rematch against U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-5th District.
Goode, a lawyer from Rocky Mount who lost to Perriello in 2008 by a scant 727 votes, announced last July that he would not seek the GOP nod to challenge the freshman Democrat.
But in an interview Monday, Goode would not rule out the possibility of an independent candidacy or that he might later change his mind about the Republican nomination.
