Illegal Immigrant To Be Tried As Adult In Murder Case
Posted: March 31, 2008 06:03 AM PDT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A teenager, illegally in the country, accused of killing a mother and her daughter was scheduled to go on trial Monday.
Jose Sosa was just 16-years-old when he allegedly stabbed Lori and Adrian Roundtree to death in April 2006.
At the time of the murders Sosa lived next door to the Roundtrees with his three brothers.
Police matched fingerprints at the crime scene to Sosa's in the FBI's database.
Sosa's fingerprints were taken when he was arrested for illegally entering the country. He was sent back across the border - only to re-enter later.
Sosa will be tried as an adult.

Jury Acquits Undocumented Immigrant Of Double Homicide
Posted: Nov 7, 2008 04:18 PM PST
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A jury acquitted an undocumented immigrant of killing a mother and daughter.
Police thought they had plenty of evidence to convict Jose Murillo Sosa.
Now, the victims' family and prosecutors are trying to understand the verdict.
Relatives are upset, and so are prosecutors who thought they had plenty of evidence to at least put Sosa away for the rest of his life.
Tim Rountree said his 16-year-old niece Adrian Rountree loved to draw and color.
"We were all stunned," he said.
But Rountree will also have to remember Adrian and her mother by what some are saying was a complete surprise.
Jurors acquitted the 16-year-old who lives next door Lori and Adrian Rountree.
Police said they were stabbed dozens of times in their home more than two years ago in South Nashville.
Assistant District Attorney Kathy Morante said it's the first time she's been surprised by a verdict.
"We had evidence of a bloody fingerprint belonging to the defendant as well as other fingerprints that were not bloody," she said.
"We felt it was almost a before and after picture that there were prints going into the house that were not bloody, and the print leaving the home which was bloody," she said.
Morante said police also recovered Sosa's DNA on a murder weapon mixed in with the victim's blood.
During a police interview, prosecutors said, Sosa denied being inside the Rountree home.
The jury deliberated five and a half hours before returning the not guilty verdict.
Now, Tim Rountree and the rest of his family must move on.
He'll always have memories.
"Eventually, regardless of what happens with a jury in a case like this there is a judge. They will have to answer to for eternity," he said.
Prosecutors said the jury was not interested in talking to them after the verdict. Criminal Court Judge Mark Fishburn would not release the juror list.
Police said Sosa is an illegal immigrant from Honduras. He will be deported.
It's the second time he's been in the United States illegally, but he can't face federal charges until he crosses the border illegally for a third time.

I didn't realize there was a three strikes and your out policy regarding those who habitually cross our borders illegally! Not only does this scum bag get away it seems with a double murder, but he also walks away unscathed regarding our immigration laws!
10-1 odds says he will be back in this country within a year of being deported! What does he have to lose, as he probably believes he's immune to suffering any consequences regarding our laws.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
