Illegal immigrants arrested at Stewart

NEW WINDSOR – State police, federal authorities and the Orange County DA’s Office today announced the arrests of 12 illegal immigrants, who used fake documents to obtain employment at a business at Stewart Airport and gain access to airport operations areas, Mid-Hudson News reported.

At no time was the traveling public at risk or was there any connection to broader criminal activity, State police said.

The suspects used false documents to get work at Empire Warehouse Solutions at 149 Cargo Road in the tTown of Newburgh. Once employed there, they had access to airport operations areas.

The investigation was initiated by an alert airport employee who questioned suspicious documents that were presented to him.

During the verification process, it was discovered that several employees of that facility had used similar forged documents to get work and access airport operations areas.

The documents consisted mainly of fake social security and resident alien cards.

All of the suspects were arraigned and held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of bail.

Most of the defendants will be held for deportation to their home countries, police said.

The investigation into the source of the documents is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call State Police BCI in Montgomery at 845-457-1388, or ICE at 866-DHS-2ICE.

Those arrested were identified as: Wilian Costillo-Pineda, 24, of Newburgh, born in Guatemala;

Gerson Loate, 21, of Newburgh, born in Peru; Amelia Mejiia-Montesinos, 36, of Newburgh, born in Mexico; Hugo Saguilan, 28, of Newburgh, born in Mexico; Raul Martinez, 40, of Newburgh, born in Chile; Enrique Zavaleta, 44, of Newburgh, born in Mexico; Jamie Serrano, 31, of New Windsor, born in Mexico; Pablo Serrano, 53, of New Windsor, born in Mexico; Francisco Duque-Gonzalez, 40, of Newburgh, born in Mexico; Roberto Galdamez, 21, of Newburgh, born in El Salvador;

Pedro Galdamez, 24, of Newburgh, born in El Salvador; Antonio Isidoro, 30, of Newburgh, born in Mexico.
