    Conservatives Get Ultimatum
    GOP Pushed on Immigration

    By John Stanton

    June 13, 2007

Senate conservatives have been warned by Republican leaders that they must either accept a series of largely symbolic floor votes on a handful of amendments to the immigration reform legislation or see themselves shut out of the process altogether when the chamber resumes work on the bill later this year, GOP lawmakers and aides said Tuesday.

You need a subscription to Roll Call to read the whole thing, but it sounds like the fix is in.

So now they are resorting to blackmail? "Either vote for us or you lose your seat."

This is such BS! These corrupt officials obviously have something huge they will lose if they don't support this bill.

I think this is just another stunt by Bush. Don't lose focus, make the calls from the Red Alert message. I just soke with a staffer at Collins' office and she is getting a flood of calls from angry Republicans.

The fix has been in all along but we've successfully derailed it so far.

I just made 20 phone calls and will pick up the rest after my next meeting.

CALL CALL CALL until your fingers bleed and remind the Senators of your disgust of Bush trying to push something the peole don't want!

If I was one of the Senate conservatives, I would expose the so-called leaders for the treasonous scum that they are. What kind of BS games is this with our national security at stake.

Republican leaders? The only ones I can think of higher than a US Senator are Bush, Cheney, and RNC head Martinez. I guess they havn't figured out yet they have no party members to lead any more!

I think that it's referring to the Senate traitors, i.e. Lott, Kyl, McConnell, Graham, Specter, and McCain

Your optimism always shines through, doesn't it? According to you this bill would have already passed the Senate. Let's not commit sepuku quite yet.
