CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies were raiding a Chandler business Saturday evening as part of an identity theft operation.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio's deputies for several years have been raiding businesses where they suspect illegal immigrants are working using false identity documents.

Sheriff's spokesman Christopher Hegstrom says the raid began just before 5 p.m.

Hegstrom did not identify the business, but the building at the address he gave has been used as a restaurant.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies raided a Chandler restaurant in an identity theft operation and arrested five people.

The action Saturday evening was the latest in a yearslong string of raids by Sheriff Joe Arpaio's deputies at sites where illegal immigrants are suspected of working using false identity documents.

The sheriff's office says in a statement that a tip led to the investigation of the Si Senor Restaurant.

Authorities executed a search warrant involving 10 suspects and arrested five of them.

The office says one of the suspects was allegedly using the identity of a Gilbert teenager who had recently died.
