Demonstrators from across the country are gearing up to assemble in Phoenix, Arizona next Saturday to demand that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio be removed from office. Arpaio has remained the top foe of immigrants living in the US and they’re ready to step up their fight.

The Los Angeles-based organization, National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON.org), is coordinating a mass march in downtown Phoenix and are calling for people who don’t live in Arizona to join them.

Arpaio’s office has been under investigation by the Department of Justice for alleged racial-profiling and unfair treatment of Latinos. The ACLU has also filed a number of lawsuits on behalf of clients who were targeted by Arpaio’s deputies based on their skin color.

Maricopa County had been granted the power to enforce immigration law by ICE in 2004, but Arpaio’s use of that power was overstepped. Over the years, claims of intimidation and harassment by his office raised red flags and in 2009 the DOJ initiated a probe against Arpaio in which he refused to cooperate.

Last October, the Department of Homeland Security, under which ICE operates, stripped Arpaio from his ability to enforce immigration law, which includes questioning people about their immigration status and arresting them on the spot if they cannot provide proof that they are in the country legally. But a defiant Arpaio has continued to enforce immigration law under Arizona’s “Coyote Law.â€

In other words, stop law enforcement officials from doing their jobs, encourage illegal behavior from illegal aliens and make Americans feel more unsafe than they already are.

The reason they want Sheriff Joe stripped of his powers is because he's deporting illegal invaders, thereby enforcing the laws ,as he has sworn to do!

Those who protest against Sheriff Joe are militant pro-illegals, who do not want this countries immigration laws enforced. ICE should be on hand at this little pep rally!

RAAAACIIISM. Oh, please. Communities of color - I don't hear too many in the black community claiming that immigration laws are harmful to their race.

Uh, huh. And the Bologna family wasn't separated?

â–*The passage of comprehensive immigration reform legislation that provides legal status and political equality to undocumented immigrants.

In other words, they want to vote so they can vote themselves more free benefits.

You have constitutional rights in Mexico, not the U.S.

The only problem with this demonstration is that none of them are qualified to vote in Arizona, and the citizens of Arizona like and keep re-electing Sheriff Joe. Their opinions simply don't matter.

I doubt if Sheriff Joe is against immigrants, but rather ILLEGAL ALIENS! There is a big, big difference. And, they should have no say about anythng which has to do with enforcing our laws.

HA HA HA!!!!!!!! What garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!It is against the law for illegal aliens to be here, so when patriots such as the great Sheriff Joe Arpaio stops this criminal invasion, the pro-illegals and the illegals themselves cry like babies.

Vigilante groups have been Arpaio’s greater supporters from the beginning, defending the sheriff and also holding their own protests against immigrant groups. Immigrant advocacy organizations have been concerned that the vigilantes foment hate against immigrants that legally reside in the country as well as those who are undocumented.

Are these the kind of lies they have to make up about us? And without a stitch of proof or evidence to any of it.

You're all law breaking,racist criminals that WILL be stopped if the people of this country alone have to do it. Then the politicians will go with you!
