SANFORD — A long-term drug investiga*tion culminated Thursday with the seizure of almost 8 pounds of cocaine, agents with the City-County Drug Unit reported.

Drug agents, along with members of the State Bureau of Investigation, the Greenville Drug Task Force and the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant around 9 p.m. Thursday at 336 Grant St. and found 7.6 pounds of cocaine.

Two men in the house — 31-year-old Johnny Roel Robledo and 27-year-old Jose Fernando Mendoza Gonzalez — were charged with multiple felonies related to the sale of cocaine.

Capt. Dan Kehagias described Robledo as “a large-scale distributor of cocaine” who has been “a long-term target of ours.”

“It’s a pretty serious dent in a major dis*tributor for Lee County. We were happy to get him,” Kehagias said. Kehagias said the investigation is ongoing in both Greenville and Lenoir County and that those agencies could make further arrests in the case.

Agents also seized $11,570 in cash, digital scales and a handgun. The cocaine was worth an estimated $690,400.

According to Kehagias, Robledo admitted to being in the U.S. illegally.
Both men were placed in the Lee County Jail under $505,500 secured bond.
