Arrests were plentiful for Border Patrol on weekend.

TUCSON — Following is a rundown of activities that occurred over the weekend within the Tucson Sector. This is only a thumbnail of each incident and an invitation to contact the Tucson Sector Communications Division for more information.

Arrests

Agents from the Casa Grande station apprehended an illegal alien Sunday who is an admitted Sureño 13 gang member. The fingerprint database program also revealed that the subject had been previously arrested for domestic violence and marijuana possession. The subject was held for processing.

Ajo station agents arrested an illegal alien Saturday who was found to be a Sureño 13 gang member. The subject had multiple tattoos that showed affiliation to the street gang and a fingerprint check revealed multiple arrests for trespassing, vehicle theft, burglary, aggravated assault and counterfeiting. The subject was held for prosecution.

Dangerous criminal aliens, such as gang members and felons, attempt to enter our communities everyday. The Border Patrol remains vigilant and is dedicated to preventing these subjects from harming our way of life. IAFIS assists agents in rapidly detecting these subjects and bringing them to the proper law enforcement resolution.

Rescues
and recoveries

Saturday, agents assigned to the Border Patrol’s Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) team received information of two illegal aliens who were lost in the West Desert. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine assisted in search efforts for the subjects and located them north of Lukeville. The subjects were taken to the Ajo station for processing.

Agents from the Casa Grande station responded to a rescue beacon activation and found two illegal aliens. The subjects stated that they had been lost for a week. The subjects were evaluated by medical personnel and no further medical attention was needed. They were transported to the Casa Grande station for processing.

Agents from the Nogales station discovered a deceased subject on Saturday near Bear Valley Ranch. The agents contacted the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department who took custody of the deceased individual.

Callous smugglers continue to lead illegal aliens through harsh desert terrain where temperatures affect the well being of the people they are smuggling.
