SHERMAN, TX--Made more money than you thought this year? It may not be a good thing when you're filing your taxes. Sherman Police say to lookout for W-2s in the mail that don't belong to you.

Authorities say it happens every year. Sometimes illegal immigrants seeking work will purchase a social security number.

If that number belongs to you, all tax information associated with that job could be mailed to your address as well.

Victims of this crime are advised to immediately report it to their local authorities. Don't ignore the W-2 or throw it away. It could cause the IRS to audit you later for not reporting your annual earnings.
