    U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter: February 18 - February 24

    (02/24/2010)Border Patrol agents seized over 20,984 pounds of marijuana and 286.8 pounds of cocaine. Agents arrested 10 criminal aliens and 13 gang members. There were 4 rocking incidents.

    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Cotton City, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for third degree sexual abuse in the State of Oregon and had been previously removed from the United States.


    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being Sureños 13 gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history.


    Marfa Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 3,109 pounds of marijuana, three vehicles and arrested three United States Citizens (USC) near Marfa, Texas.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,412 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside the trailer.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,268 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Ford truck near Granjeno, Texas.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,419 pounds of marijuana and a GMC minivan near Weslaco, Texas. Upon seeing agents approach the vehicle, the driver abandoned the vehicle and absconded.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,429 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology showed anomalies in the trailer, and a subsequent search revealed the marijuana.

    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Lordsburg, New Mexico. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Los Paisas gang member. Records checks revealed he had prior convictions for robbery and assault with force in the State of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,582 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen vehicle near Sells, Arizona. Agents discovered an abandoned sport utility vehicle that had become stuck in a ditch. A search of the vehicle revealed the narcotics inside.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 209 pounds of marijuana and arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Willcox, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member.

    El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 60.8 pounds of cocaine, a Toyota Tundra, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Calexico, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed the cocaine inside the vehicle.


    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Deming, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject has numerous prior felony convictions and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Laredo, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 311 pounds of marijuana, a 9 mm Ruger handgun, and arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico near Vamori, Arizona. One subject was holding the weapon in his hand at the time of arrest.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Nogales, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being an MS-13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested three illegal aliens from Mexico near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. All three claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint by two subjects in Mexico. One subject requested medical attention and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released into Border Patrol custody. Information regarding the robbery was reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – A suspected smuggling load driver attempted to run over two Border Patrol agents near La Grulla, Texas. The driver, an illegal alien from Mexico, was attempting to pick up 11 other illegal aliens from the parking lot of a local bar when he saw agents arrive. He attempted to assault the agents with his moving vehicle, and then fled on foot. The subject was subsequently arrested after being located by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine asset.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual assault of a child in the State of Wisconsin and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico who claimed to have been shot by bandits near Tubac, Arizona. The subject, along with four other illegal aliens from Mexico, claimed to have been robbed by the four armed bandits. The injured subject was transported to a local hospital, treated, and released into Border Patrol custody. The information regarding the robbery was reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation.


    Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 193 pounds of marijuana near San Luis, Arizona. Agents observed an ultralight aircraft cross the international border, turn around inside the United States and return to Mexico. Agents searched the suspected drop site and found the marijuana.

    El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ysleta, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,664 pounds of marijuana, a tractor trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology showed anomalies in the trailer. A subsequent search revealed the marijuana.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,500 pounds of marijuana, a tractor trailer, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the marijuana inside the trailer.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested six illegal aliens who claimed to have been robbed of their marijuana load by six armed bandits near Nogales, Arizona. The aliens claimed that three of the six bandits fired weapons into the air during the robbery.

    Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,139 pounds of marijuana, a Ford F-350 truck, a utility trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Hebbronville, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the marijuana inside.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 226 pounds of cocaine, a recreational vehicle, and arrested a national of Canada at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search revealed the cocaine inside the vehicle.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sex with a minor under 3 years old, and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Honduras near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject is an MS-13 gang member and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Reported on February 24, 2010


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,222 pounds of marijuana, a tractor trailer, and arrested a USC and a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the load. A search by agents revealed the marijuana concealed inside the trailer.


    Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,498 pounds of marijuana and arrested a national of Mexico near Abram, Texas. Agents observed rafts loaded with bundles of suspected narcotics make several trips across the Rio Grande River and a tractor towing a water tank subsequently leave the area. Agents and the State law enforcement officers performed a vehicle stop on the tractor and discovered the marijuana inside the water tank.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated criminal sexual assault and had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureno 13 gang member and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


    Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued an unaccompanied juvenile from El Salvador near Hereford, Arizona. Agents encountered the juvenile on a mountain and she appeared to be suffering from hypothermia and dehydration. Agents conducted a successful rescue, and transferred her to awaiting emergency medical personnel. The subject was treated at a local hospital and released into Border Patrol custody.

    U.S. Border Patrol

    Most of these criminal had been previously deported for crimes. Border Patrol should report how many times they were deported.

    The border is not secure as long as criminals can come back multiple times.
