UFW: AgJobs reintroduced in Congress today Show your support

    AgJOBS reintroduced in Congress today.
    Show your support.

Who are America's farm workers? You don't see them in the restaurants, grocery stores or farmers' markets where you buy your food. They are part of an invisible world where the food just appears on the shelves.

Here are some facts about the people who labor in our fields. They work in substandard conditions for wages far below the poverty line. Their real wages have not increased in nearly 30 years. The average farm worker makes just $13,000 per year. Many have no health care and can’t take time off to seek medical care for themselves or their families. They often live in decrepit housing that you wouldn't even let your dog live in. Unsafe working conditions and injuries on the job are common occurrences. Many employers use the threat of deportation to ensure workers’ silence.

There’s a bipartisan immigration bill before Congress that could drastically improve the lives of these men and women who pick our country's food. It’s called AgJOBS--The Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits and Security Act (S. 1038, Feinstein).

AgJOBS S. represents a critical opportunity for farm workers and their employers to finally address this crisis. It's a compromise that will provide America with a stable farm labor force, help ensure that farm workers are treated fairly, and finally give the men and women who pick our food the opportunity to come out of the shadows and earn legal status and fair wages in safe conditions.

As we discuss immigration over lunch or watch the news during dinner, we should think about those whose hard work put food on our table. America’s farm workers are among the most vulnerable people in our nation. They can't wait another year. Please contact your Congress Members and tell them to support AgJOBS.

I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

American farms should mechanize the reason that they have not and real wages have gone down is due to the flood of illegal labor.

Your right Richard and as we both know we have H-2A Temp. Farm Labor but the farmers refuse to use it because it makes them liable for housing, healthcare AND makes them pay decent wages.

By the time Citizens pay welfare for the farmworkers and the children they will produce we will be paying a lot more thru taxes for our veggies and fruit etc.

Besides all that;who reading this thinks the IA farm workers who get green cards will stay "Down on The Farm" ? LOL

This bill is just a way to give some IA's Amnesty.

Checking out the UFW website I have decided they may be a front for ILLEGALS, I'm not just another pretty face you know. Does not Feinstein use ILLEGALS on some of her own in state AG. Dealings?

They also have an option to send "your" United States Senators an email or fax to show how you want them to vote on Ag. (Support ILLEGALS) Bill. It seems that the prose of the email/fax can be edited before you send!!!!

I have been trying to get my family's tree farm back in production but if I do I will use H2-A employees. The largest market for our product is Haiti and I have thought of hiring Haitians.

UFW is emailing I do not think they have a fax server.

You are thinking of Pelosi, she used them at her vineyard.

Feinstein uses illegals at her 5 star Frisco hotel.

Sorry, you are correct; it is easy for me to confuse the Elitist Politicians. Of course the ILLEGALS most likely followed the example of the last administration and misled the Speaker.

Senator Dianne Feinstein has re-introduced the "Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits and Security Act" (AgJobs) farmworker amnesty plan [1] with sixteen co-sponsors [2]. Consider these listed features:
