Lou Dobbs Tonight
Tuesday, September 16, 2008
Tonight, there is fresh evidence that a common chemical in
plastics is dangerous and causes a numerous diseases—despite
repeated claims to the contrary by the staggeringly incompetent
Food and Drug Administration.
The American Medical Association released a new study linking
Bisphenol A, or BPA, to cardiovascular disease, type 2 Diabetes
and liver problems in adults. This is the compound that the FDA
thinks is safe—just the latest evidence that this broken
federal agency is not doing its jobs. In fact, it’s putting
American lives at risk. We’ll have that alarming story, plus:
* A California court is reviewing a policy that allows illegal
immigrants who went to high school in California to pay lower
in-state tuition to attend the state’s public colleges and
universities. California is one of nine states with laws
allowing undocumented residents to qualify for lower in-state
tuition rates.
* The battered U.S. auto industry could be getting a facelift.
General Motors is banking on its new electric car, the Volt, to
become its new flagship. The car is expected to hit the market
in 2010 and will be made here in the United States. Nearly
50,000 people have already joined GM’s unofficial waiting list
for the car.
* Ten key swing states face major voting issues this
presidential election, according to a new report by Common
Cause and the Century Foundation. With voters expected to
turnout in large numbers in November, states still widespread
registration, identification, and voting machine problems that
could corrupt our election.
