Facebook’s Zuckerberg and Wife Help Illegal Immigrants with College Tuition


Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have donated millions of dollars via the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative to TheDream.US, a program that will award over 100 college scholarships to illegal immigrants in the Bay Area.

The donations have been spread out over the past several years, and the 139 scholarships given out are part of a concerted effort to ensure that 400 young illegals will attend college in the region by 2020. The “dreamers,” as they are commonly known, are not eligible for federal financial aid, private scholarships, or other grants, so cannot generally afford college. TheDream.US believes that it is a shame to “waste [their] talent.” Tania Wilcox, the program’s director for college partnerships, said that the organization “truly believes that an education is so important for people to be able to contribute to this community and this nation.”

Mary Papazian, the president of San Jose State University, argued that the illegal students have a “real sense of drive and purpose… with just a little support, it’s really incredible what they can do.” San Jose State is set to receive more than 40% of the scholarship recipients this year. The organization has also assisted universities in sharing information in how to support these students, which Pablo Reguerin, the assistant vice provost for student success at UC Santa Cruz, said made people feel “better equipped to address the changing demographics and the varying needs that students bring in.”

Last November’s election of President Trump prompted fears from TheDream.US that fewer students would apply; however, 9000 students started the application, with around 3000 completing it. “Even in the face of fear, even in the face of a lot of uncertainty, they just push forward,” program director Gaby Pacheco said.

This is not the only assistance that exists for illegal immigrants at college. Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, announced in May that they will fund 100% of financial aid packages for students that are in the country illegally, despite international students being expected to pay full tuition.

Why don't they fund our American children living in orphanages, why don't they foster care them with a college education. zberg has way too much money and is un-American. He is still advocating for foreign workers too! No need to guess why - foreigners take a cheaper wage. zuckerberg - pay off our American youths college loans due to your preference for foreign workers!

Why don't they help some American Kids from Appalachia or Detroit or Chicago or Louisiana with aid to go to college?

Because the Zuckerbergs are actually quite stupid. They didn't even get rich off their own idea, they took someone else's Scrap Book idea and used someone else's computer expertise to put it on the internet. Nice improvement but not even an original idea when you get down to it.

Why are they not picked up for aiding and abetting illegal aliens!

I've boycotted them for years. Never joined, refuse to use them, scowl at my sister who posts her family photos on there for her friends. I do cheat once in awhile and look in on Trump's Facebook, but don't join, and don't follow, and don't participate.

I permanently deleted mine a couple years ago. At first it was fun getting in touch people I haven't seen in years, but then it started getting depressing reading about people always bitching and whining about their personal stupid problems.

Yeah, and when you think about it, how many people want to spend a lot of time looking at someone's else's Scrap Book multiple times a day. It's actually kind of weird to me.



Think if all those Facebook people posting pictures of themselves and their kids on Facebook all day made phone calls to Congress to stop illegal immigration and fix these bad trade deals or looked for a job if they need one or spent the time growing a garden, cleaning their own house or mowing their own yard, how much better off they'd be and we'd all be as a nation?

When you think about it, Facebook has become a destructive and wasteful force in our country. I mean you can certainly make the argument.
