    Taylor County Jail sees no rise in immigrants

    The number of undocumented immigrants in prisons nationwide and in Texas has increased during the past few years, but officials say the Taylor County Jail isn’t experiencing the same trend.

    Nationwide, the number of illegal immigrants released to federal authorities through the Criminal Alien Program jumped 50 percent between 2007 and 2009, according to data from a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman.

    Texas prisons have seen a slight increase in undocumented immigrants since 2006, but Taylor County Sheriff Les Bruce said last week that the local jail has steadily held 70 to 80 illegal immigrants a year.

    In Texas, law enforcement officers aren’t required to check the immigration status of someone they suspect is in the country illegally.

    Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer was both criticized and lauded after signing a controversial immigration law in April that requires police to “make a reasonable attemptâ€

    Of course Texas prisons and jails have not seen an increase in illegal aliens, WE ARE IN A SANCTUARY STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How hard is this to figure out?
