A 32-year-old Sparks man has been arrested on a charge he used the Social Security number of a 24-year-old Las Vegas woman to get a car loan, contracting and business licenses and tax permits for his Reno tile company.

Ricardo Armas-Esparza, owner of Atlas Tile & Stone, was arrested Wednesday morning after an investigation by the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. The Mexico-born man remains in Washoe County Jail without bail. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents placed an immigration hold on him.

His brother, Christian Armas, said that Armas-Esparza’s citizenship application has been pending for more than 10 years. When Armas-Esparza decided to go into the tile business several years ago, Armas said his brother used 530 — the first Social Security numbers typically issued given to Nevadans — and made up the other six.

The brother said Armas-Esparza used the number to obtain loans and business and contracting licenses while using his own name and birth date. He also became bonded and insured for his business, which opened about six years ago.

Isn't it INCREDIBLE how these thieves try to justify ID THEFT?????

I wonder if the poor victim will have IRS and Credit problems ?

My god. And we wonder why our economy is in the toilet. How many illegals used the same proceedure to buy homes, get loans, buy cars ,etc.

When things don't work out they just run back to Mexico leaving the US Citizen holding the bag.

My application was taking too long so it's ok to commit ID theft??? Take everything this man accumulated and give it to the woman whose SS number he stole before you deport him!!!!
