Man gets prison term for role in kidnapping illegal immigrants

A Mexican national has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in holding hostage four illegal migrants in a Phoenix apartment last fall.

Conrado Garcia-Medina, 25, of Sinaloa, Mexico, pleaded guilty in April to a charge of carrying a firearm in relation to a violent crime.

A federal judge sentenced Garcia-Medina on Tuesday. Authorities said he led a gang that kidnapped illegal immigrants from other smuggling organizations for ransom. The four victims were tortured - one was sexually assaulted - over six days in late 2007. An investigation into additional suspects is ongoing.

Whew! Good thing it was not an American holding four illegal aliens hostage for even 30 minutes while ICE or Border Patrol arrived. If that happened the story would be in ever major newspaper in the country with fingers pointing saying "look at this evil American and how he represents all those angry people!"
