My theory is that Obama falls into the part of the liberal spectrum that is leery of immigration reform because of concerns that immigrant labor hurts blue-collar workers, especially African-Americans.

Navarrette, you racist boob! I hope you gag on that statement. Immigrant labor hurts ALL Americans and yes, African Americans are most certainly among them. No question they have suffered. Yet the national NAACP endorses immigration reform and overrides its own racial base in that endorsement. Obama knows this, too.

If anyone is clueless, it is Navarette. Does it occur to him that the majority of the entire country is against giving these lawbreakers amnesty? If Obama pushes immigration reform now he will succeed in angering most of the electorate even more. Not smart, is it. The only things Obama should be doing now is strengthening border control so that 95% is secured and significantly improving interior enforcement. The country and its legal citizens always come first.

I googled "CLUELESS" and a picture of Navarrette was all that appeared.

Navarrette is smarter than this article makes him appear. He knows that 'Bama is just playing a waiting game, until the economy recovers sufficiently to let him grant amnesty to his precious undocumented Democrats. Make no mistake about it, that's exactly what 'Bama is doing. When he met with prominent African Americans, the members of the Congressional Black Caucus were not invited. That's because Caucus members had written to 'Bama, saying that job training and job creation funds should be directed to citizens of the United States.
