Telegraph taken to task over Tancredo editorial

The Telegraph's shrill carping on Rep. Tom Tancredo's new TV ad is an attempt by The Telegraph to exploit the politics of fear, not Tancredo. (Nov. 20: Candidate exploits the politics of fear).

The Telegraph's concocted logical mystery train of "immigrants are terrorists; terrorists are evil; hate all immigrants" is nowhere present in the ad itself, ignores the distinction between legal and criminal immigration, and cannot reasonably be drawn as an inference.

The Telegraph attempts to prove that criminal aliens crossing the borders will not commit acts of terrorism by stating that none of the 9/11 hijackers entered the U.S. illegally.

This is 2-0/20 myopia. If future terrorists were to emulate the 9/11 hijackers in every detail, we wouldn't have to worry about terrorism, as there are no Twin Towers to fly into anymore.

Common sense indicates that future acts of terror will not be carbon copies of previous acts of terror, due to differing opportunities and risks from the terrorists' perspective.

Terrorists know they can enter the U.S. without probable detection, along with whatever they decide to bring with them. There are transnational terrorist organizations, such as MS-13, that are known to illegally cross our borders, bringing violence and death with them.

Saudi nationals, and those from other Arab kingdoms, have entered the U.S. illegally through our porous borders. We don't know who they are or what they're doing here.

Does The Telegraph? And can it assure us not only that they mean us no harm, but anyone who will seek to illegally enter the nation in the future will be benign as well?

The Telegraph's position is logically and empirically preposterous. I am not backing Tancredo in the primary, but it is offensive that The Telegraph feels the need to slander an American patriot who recognizes the threat posed by criminal aliens and the unsecured borders that enable them to infiltrate our society.
